May 30, 2022 – Hardwick, MN

Discussion: I took off to Sioux Falls that morning to meet up with Luke, Nathen and Sam, but before I got there they decided to go after a cell in South Dakota that ended up producing a brief tornado near Orland, SD. Around that time the NWS issued a PDS mesoscale discussion for Minnesota as I was driving north on Interstate 29. I decided to cut off the activity coming in from the south knowing that today’s setup was looking questionable due to not enough time for the atmosphere to recover. I ended up meeting up with Luke, Nathen and Sam near Hardwick, MN and we all watched in amazement as this new cell rotated something fierce. It did not produce a tornado but had a few possible funnels and tiny ropes trying to spin up. The rest of the chase was uneventful with wall clouds and rain.
